Practical AI governance for Australian SMEs

Your staff are already using AI. Can you prove it is being governed?

Traigun AI helps Australian SMEs, founders and directors adopt AI safely by turning governance and risk requirements into practical policies, registers, controls, workflows and evidence.

This is applied AI governance and business systems work. It is not generic AI consulting, automation sales or chatbot development.

Human accountabilityEvidence before actionUse AI. Govern it. Systemise it. Prove it.

Public checklist

Can I Put This Into AI?

Use the Can I Put This Into AI? checklist to decide whether information is appropriate to enter into an AI system. It is a starting point, not a substitute for broader AI governance.

Green route

Generally acceptable, with care.

Public information, general research questions and your own drafts containing no identifying or commercially sensitive detail.

Verify the output before relying on it.

Amber route

Approval and controls first.

Internal business information, supplier or operational detail, or anything commercially sensitive.

Use an approved tool route, a named approver and a record of material use.

Red route

Do not enter into public AI tools.

Personal information, client-confidential or privileged material, credentials, financial-account detail or regulated records.

Use a separately approved secure route or keep the task outside AI.

Check the boundary for a task

Choose the most sensitive information involved. The result is generic and does not replace a tailored classification.

Do not enter source material. This selector does not ask for, process or retain task content.

Amber route

Use an approved workflow. Minimise the information, use an approved tool route and name the person who checks the result.

Keep the checklist beside the work.

The PDF is for everyday decisions about what may go into AI. When the same questions keep recurring, the AI Governance Starter Pack turns them into policy, registers and controls.

Primary paid starting point

AI Governance Starter Pack

A practical engagement for organisations that already use AI in normal operations but do not yet have appropriate governance.

Who it is for

Australian SMEs, founders, directors, boards, consultants and confidential or regulated workplaces that need a proportionate starting point, not an enterprise transformation programme.

What it typically includes

A scoped Starter Pack typically includes some or all of the following, confirmed in writing before work begins:

Not every engagement includes every component. Scope, limitations and delivery terms are confirmed in writing. This is general information, not a compliance guarantee or legal service.

The approach

Govern the work before the tool runs it.

AI may analyse, draft, classify, recommend and propose. Named people remain accountable for material decisions. Model output is not a business action until it has been reviewed. Read more on AI governance in Australia.

Understand the system first

Do not automate a poorly understood process. Identify the business system, authoritative sources and owners before introducing AI.

Keep judgement inside limits

AI may exercise judgement inside a defined task. Authority limits, evidence requirements and approval controls still govern material outcomes.

Separate output from action

For controlled work, AI should generally read evidence and propose changes. Material external actions pass through human or deterministic approval before they are executed.

Working methods

The logic behind a controlled AI practice.

These methods support practical governance judgement. They are not certification, legal advice, regulatory approval or a compliance guarantee.

01

Discover

Map tools, use cases, information, owners and high-consequence workflows.

02

Govern

Set policy, roles, prohibitions, approval levels and review triggers.

03

Systemise

Translate rules into permissions, workflow gates and repeatable checks.

04

Prove

Retain decisions, sources, reviews, exceptions and control-test evidence.

When a checklist is not enough

Move from a daily check to a governed practice.

The Starter Pack turns repeated AI-use questions into policies, registers, workflow controls and director-level oversight shaped around actual use, information and consequences.

A structured request replaces an exploratory call.

We confirm scope, limitations and delivery terms in writing before work or a meeting begins.
